b, d, p (and q) are built from the same two parts (stem + belly), just turned differently. A 6-year-old's left/right sense is still unstable, so the direction flips. Meixner's rule: teach them far apart.

A b–d tévesztés első osztályban gyakori és többnyire múló; a d után 7 betűvel tanítjuk. Ha 2. osztályban is tartós, érdemes szakemberrel beszélni.

b/d reversal is very common in grade 1 and usually fades. We teach b seven letters after d. If it persists into grade 2, mention it to the teacher or a specialist. The English "bed" fist trick works for Hungarian too.
