Letter name: er (say "air" with a rolled r)
/r/ · kitartható · you can stretch it
Pergetett hang: a nyelv hegye a fogmeder mögött gyorsan rezeg.
A tapped or rolled "r" as in Spanish "pero/perro". The tongue tip flicks behind the upper teeth. Never the English "r".
Every word below uses only letters taught up to this one in our order.
Egy hang, más szó! Olvasd fel párban, és mutass a jó képre.
One sound changes the word. Read each pair aloud; the child points to the right meaning.
Ejtési nehézségnél az r l-lé válik.
Children who can't trill yet replace r with l.
Rrrr — berreg a traktor,
rázkódik a rögös út.
Róka néz ki a bokorból:
répát rág a nyúl — hú-hú!
Rrrr — the tractor rumbles, / the bumpy road shakes. / A fox peeks out of the bush: / the rabbit is munching a carrot — whoo-hoo!
Nyomtatott Print: Rövid szár, tetején jobbra kis kampó.
A short stem with a little hook at the top right.
Írott (folyóírás) Cursive: Írott r: felvezetés után kis csúcs vagy váll a középvonalon, majd le és ki.
Cursive r: an up-stroke, a small shoulder at the middle line, then down and out.
Vonalvezetés Strokes: Fel a középvonalig, kis vállal jobbra, le az alapvonalig, ki jobbra.
Up to the middle line, small shoulder to the right, down to the baseline, exit right.
Ha a gyerek még nem tudja ejteni az r-t, ne erőltesse; a betűt ettől még megtanulhatja. Tartós ejtési hibánál logopédus.
If your child can't roll the r yet, that's normal at 5-6 and doesn't block reading. For English-dominant children: a single tongue flick (like the "tt" in American "butter") is already a good Hungarian r. Persistent problems at school age: see a speech therapist.
